Thread Up Review

A while back there was a post on Money Saving Mom about how to get a box of clothes from Thread Up for next to nothing.  Since I was expecting a baby boy after having a little girl, I thought it would be a good way to get started on some boy items.

Searching
After signing up and getting my free box credit, I searched and searched the site.  You can search by age, size, and gender, or you can search by keyword.  Each box has a short description of what is included, and you can click on this to find out the full details.

Receiving
Once I found a box I liked, I purchased it, and once it was confirmed, I waited for it to arrive.  It only took a couple of days, and sure enough, a box stuffed full of little boy clothes arrived on my doorstep.  I was happy with probably 5-7 out of the 15 pieces, but for a sight unseen box of used clothes I was pretty happy, especially since they were free!

Right now, you get a free box of clothing (just pay shipping) when you sign up, so head on over and check it out!

I went to the pediatrician last week armed with my list of questions.  The top of my list was about the type of formula my little one would start drinking when I go back to school and my freezer is empty of free mommy milk.  I received quite a bit of formula from a friend whose baby has moved on to real milk, but I was worried about its low lactose level.  So, my first question to the pediatrician was about this formula, and her response?  Use anything that the baby tolerates and you can get for free.  Not what I was expecting her to say!  So, I found this site that is full of free samples for baby - no matter what stage your baby is in.  Check it out!

They have free magazines - American Baby and Baby Talk - I LOVE getting these in the mail, especially knowing I haven't paid a dime for them.

You can also sign up for Huggies and Pampers clubs, which will get you lots of great coupons.

And, of course, you can join the enfamil, gerber, and similac groups to get those infamous formula checks and other great savings!

Works for Me - Right At Home

I love using coupons, but I loathe printing them!  Thus, I adore companies who send them to me in the mail.  I signed up for Right at Home a while back, and I have gotten some great coupons from them.  They are having a promotion right now through ZipLoc, so hop on over and sign up - hopefully we'll get some great coupons in the mail shortly!

My First Machine Applique!!

I purchased a simple embroidery machine almost the minute I found out I was pregnant with my daughter.  That was five years ago.  I completed my first machine applique yesterday.

I realize there is something wrong with this picture, but I am a perfectionist, and I just couldn't make myself sit down and figure it all out.  Until I had a beautiful baby boy.  And a four year old girl.

Let me just tell you how difficult it is to find cute, matching clothes for these two.  Not only are they different sexes, but they are in different age groups clothing-wise as well.  No cute matching designs, for sure, but also very difficult to even finding matching colors.  So, not only did I complete my first machine applique, but I also dyed their shirts before starting!!  I am pretty excited by the results, and my daughter is giddy because I am now making her a coordinating skirt (she will only wear skirts and dresses these days...no idea where this girly-girl came from!).

We can't wait for the first day of school!
